Mixed Media is Hamilton’s only independent art shop. Having only been open since October 2005, this locally owned and independent store is already creating a stir in the local arts community. Specializing in art and printmaking supplies, specialty paper and stationery products. Mixed Media also features locally made gift items, greeting cards, books and magazines and a pretty cool art gallery. We strive to do things differently and creatively and hope to inspire a few bystanders along the way.
James North Art Crawl
“Galleries and a little grit around the edges define the vibrant James Street North arts district. For the James North Art Crawl, a festive event on the second friday night of every month, galleries keep their doors open until around 11 p.m., so visitors can explore and chat. Here, you’ll find a stimulating range of exhibits in a variety of settings, including a former tailor’s shop (Hamilton Artists Inc.) and The Print Studio, which draws working artists from around the world. Check out Mixed Media, an art-supply store and incubator for many of the area’s bright ideas.”

In the gallery this month : Andrea Flockhart
Dundas native and student of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Andrea Flockhart is our featured artist for the month of May. Her drawings draw on her wicked sense of humour and very active imagination. Disturbingly clever and cute - Andrea's art is a work in progress. In her early twenties, she continues to wow us with her youthful elegance and fantastic execution. She is spending the summer in Portland, OR studying printmaking and experiencing life. Show continues to June 5, 2009.
